I’m Gary Cartledge. I bring together the commercial thinking of a founder, the detail of a designer and the practical experience of running businesses.

Gary Cartledge

Founder’s perspective.
Hands-on experience.

My route here runs through business ownership, architecture, property services, digital delivery and charity operations.

Running a gaming café meant dealing with purchasing, customers, cash flow and the everyday work behind the counter. Architectural work taught me to translate a brief and a measured survey into coordinated technical information. Building websites brought another question into focus: what does the client actually need the system to do?

Those experiences now sit alongside director-level responsibility and organisational administration. I’m comfortable moving between the commercial question, the people involved and the detail of delivery.

That is the perspective I bring to business improvement.

Residential & commercialLettings & management

A complete lettings and property management service.

LetPilot supports residential and commercial landlords with tenant finding, letting arrangements and ongoing property management. The service includes occupation contracts for residential lettings and the administration and communication needed to keep a letting running.

My role
Founder & Director, LetPilot
My focus
Developing and delivering letting services, supporting landlords and organising the people, information and processes behind property management.

The service

LetPilot is a lettings and property management business serving residential and commercial landlords. Its work spans finding tenants, arranging lettings and managing properties on an ongoing basis. Occupation contracts form part of the residential letting service.

My role in the business

As Founder & Director, my focus is on developing the service and organising its delivery: understanding what a landlord needs, coordinating letting administration, keeping property information organised and maintaining clear communication throughout the relationship.

Connecting the whole letting lifecycle

Tenant finding, letting documentation and ongoing management are connected stages of one service. The information gathered at the start needs to remain useful as the letting progresses, with clear responsibilities and a consistent point of contact for the landlord.

The business improvement connection

This brings together service design, stakeholder needs and practical operational systems. My experience includes developing administrative workflows, document management and financial monitoring to support the wider property management service.

RequirementsService design

Translating a client’s needs into a usable digital service.

Small businesses need their website to support enquiries, content or sales. I work across the full delivery process, including the commercial decisions about scope and support.

My role
Founder & Web Designer, SiteStudio
My contribution
Consultation, planning, development, testing, launch, guidance and ongoing support.

The business need

Clients bring different levels of technical confidence and different needs: an enquiry process, an online shop, searchable content or a site they can maintain themselves. The requirements need to become a clear, deliverable scope.

What I deliver

My work includes WordPress and Elementor builds, WooCommerce, Crocoblock, online forms, enquiry processes and content-management systems. I manage consultation and planning through to development, testing, launch and support, including revisions, guidance and client training.

The commercial decision

Alongside bespoke projects, I developed a £300-a-year subscription website offer for tradespeople. That requires thinking about what belongs in a repeatable service, how it is delivered and what can be supported within the price.

The business analysis connection

Clarifying needs, agreeing scope and translating requirements into functionality are central to this work. The responsibility continues through handover and use.

StakeholdersInformation management

Making shared administration work across a church network.

Supporting a Mission Area means coordinating records, reporting and requests across people with different responsibilities, availability and technical confidence.

My role
Mission Area Administrator, Bryn a Môr
My contribution
Records, reports, correspondence, websites, documentation and governance support.

The organisational context

Bryn a Môr brings seven churches into a shared administrative structure. Work involves clergy, church representatives and trustees, as well as the information needed for reporting and ongoing administration.

What I contribute

I support records, reports, websites, correspondence and administrative documentation. My experience includes Charity Commission annual reporting and returns, policy and form development, and acting Treasurer, Safeguarding Officer and Data Protection Officer responsibilities.

Related experience

I previously supported Aled Mission Area as a contractor, with administration and website work. That engagement has ended; my current Mission Area role is with Bryn a Môr.

The business analysis connection

The work gives me practical experience of differing stakeholder needs, information quality and the importance of clear ownership when responsibilities are distributed across an organisation.

03 / HOW I THINKA practical approach to improvement

Start with the work.
Then choose the solution.

I’m interested in changes that make sense commercially and can be used by the people doing the job.

01

Ask what is needed.

Who needs something to change? What are they trying to achieve? What would a useful result look like?

People & requirements
02

Follow the process.

Where does the work begin? What information moves with it? Who makes decisions, and where does responsibility pass on?

Process & information
03

Weigh the options.

Consider cost, time, capability and ongoing support. A digital solution needs a clear operational reason to exist.

Commercial judgement
04

Think beyond launch.

Consider ownership, guidance and day-to-day use. Define how the organisation would know whether a change is helping.

Delivery & evaluation
04 / BUSINESS PORTFOLIOMy roles, responsibilities & perspectives

Different businesses.
Real responsibility.

I work across businesses with distinct ownership structures and services. My role in each shapes a different part of my experience.

BEYOND THE JOB TITLES

Curiosity is a useful habit.

Architecture, repairing technology, game design and building things have a common appeal for me: understanding how something works, then exploring what I can do with it. That curiosity carries into my professional work.
